Hi Gordon, how did you start out with photography and what was your first camera?

My first camera was an Olympus E-420. Photography started in the streets for me. It was where I learned most of what I know and it is where I have developed myself and my style. It is a way of photography which I've learned to adapt to most situations and types of shoots.

You not just an Olympus Visionary, but you will also exhibit an own Installation on the Olympus Perspective Playground Berlin, which opens its doors on the 1st of September. What excites you about the Olympus Playground and what can visitors expect to find?

Needless to say, I am very excited to come to Berlin, because this is a first time for me being exhibited like this in the Playground. I can't wait to see the reactions/responses to my work. Apart from that I always enjoy coming to the Playground, because it's usually a very inspiring event where fun and experimentation are the most important aspects. Which is something I love because I believe everything in life should be taken on with that perspective in mind – fun and experimentation.

What kind of Camera Set-Up do you use and how does the Olympus System support you in your style of Street Photography?

On the streets, I exclusively work with the OM-D system. Currently, I am using the OM-D E-M1 II . This system helps my work become easier in so many ways. My favorite lens is the 17mm f/1.8, close second favorites are the 45mm f/1.8  and the 8mm f/1.8. You will have noticed by now, I exclusively work with prime lenses. But I'll explain all about that choice in the coming workshops.

You are talking about your Street Photography Workshop for our customers on August 31st. What do you have planned for the participants?

First of all, we'll have a look at a part of my portfolio. This is so we all know what the type of photos we are looking for that day. I will share some of the stories of how these pictures were shot and we will philosophize and discuss some of the photos, but also (street)photography and art in general. Afterwards we'll head out, have a little walk about and try to see if we can apply my theories onto the streets. Everybody will get some personal time with me where I can check some of your pics and give direct feedback and tips. Unless of course, you're already rocking. Then you'll only get a compliment, haha. Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope to see you all at the workshop!
